The Greenfield Central Lady Cougars hosted the Hornets from Beech Grove. Tonight marked the second straight game that went into overtime for the Cougars. Unfortunately, tonight's game did not end as we had hoped. The Cougars showed a tremendous amount of heart and desire as the battled back in the 2nd half to take the lead by three in the closing seconds. However, Beech Grove hit a three from the right wing as time expired to force the game into overtime. The Hornets scored the first seven points in the overtime and went on to outscore the Cougars by eight in the extra period to secure the 53 - 45 victory. The Cougars had two players reach double figures on the night with Izzy Silcox ending with 22 and Lexi Kerkhof chipping in 10. A trio of sophomores provided some good minutes off the bench. Addie Heacox and Audrey Bush provided some good defense, hustle, and rebounding, and Brooklyn Study contributed 5 points. The Cougars are back in action on Saturday with a home game against Guerin Catholic. The JV game tip-off is at noon with the Varsity to follow immediately afterwards at approximately 1:30.
