On the bus at 5am for the trip up north. Biggest parent crowd attendance we've seen, home or away, to start the day at 9am and the girls were in good spirits. Nevaeh Branscum started the tournament wrestling well, but suffered quad cramps between later rounds which limited her movement considerably and kept her from the podium this time. Another blow to the line up came at the loss of Asia Bowen. Miss Bowen had advanced to the quarter finals before withdrawing from the tournament due to injury. We will lose her for at least the next week. Without wrestling her last two matches she placed 6th. Highlights were progression of girls like Lidiia Dickson, who wrestled up (formerly 155) to fill a gap at 190lbs. Outsized and usually out experienced, she showed up to fight and put some points on a girl. DeAsia Washington is catching the "spirit" of wrestling, taking her losses with the best display of sportsmanship we've seen from her. Overall the girls were smiles and taking notes after matches. Big attitude and effort wins like this will pay off later. Katie Rigney placed 6th, wrestling more matches than any girl on the team. Our champion at heavyweight, Keely Allen, coming off sickness herself, fought hard, wrestled well, and threw some smashing cross-faces, putting her on top of the podium for the 4th time this season. The girls next match will be a home dual against New Pal, Wed 12/10 at 6pm.
