Defensive Effort Not Enough as Cougars Fall at Greenwood

The Cougars traveled to Greenwood and battled hard but fell 59–43 in a game dominated by shooting struggles. Greenfield-Central shot just 30% overall, including 25% from three on a heavy volume of 24 attempts, and committed 17 turnovers, which limited the offense’s ability to convert good ball movement into points. Despite offensive challenges, the Cougars shared the ball well, recording 11 assists on 13 made baskets — meaning nearly 85% of made shots were assisted — and were efficient at the free-throw line, hitting 9 of 12 attempts (75%). Clay Mullins led the effort with 20 points, 5 steals, and 4 assists, keeping the Cougars competitive throughout the game. Defensively, GC created opportunities and disrupted Greenwood’s offense, forcing 19 turnovers and recording 8 steals, while limiting the opponent’s perimeter shooting (22% on nine three-point attempts). However, struggles on the glass and efficient inside scoring by Greenwood were too much to overcome.
