Cougars Battle Elements, Break School Record at Delta Invite

By Christopher Tatom | Apr 23, 2026 9:38 AM

Greenfield-Central proved toughness can be just as important as talent Saturday at the Delta Invitational, overcoming brutal weather conditions to deliver one of the top performances in program history. With cold temperatures, steady rain, and gusting wind throughout the meet, the Cougars refused to let the elements slow them down. Instead, Greenfield-Central responded with grit, determination, and a record-breaking performance in the Mixed 4x400 relay. The quartet of Camilla Aldridge, Garrett Jack, Juliann Jones, and Everett Bishop powered their way to a first-place finish in 3:53.55, setting a new school record in the process. In conditions far from ideal for sprinting, the Cougars showed tremendous resilience and composure, turning a difficult day into a historic one. Each leg played a key role in the milestone effort. Aldridge gave Greenfield-Central a strong start, Jack maintained momentum against a talented field, Jones delivered another standout leg, and Bishop closed the race in impressive fashion to secure the victory and the new record. The performance highlighted not only the team’s speed, but also its mental toughness. Running in wind, rain, and cold temperatures often becomes a test of resolve, and Greenfield-Central passed that test with flying colors. The Cougars also posted several strong performances throughout the meet. Zoey Bauer placed fifth in the 200 meters and finished second in the pole vault, while Ashlyn Devlin took third in the girls mile. Juliann Jones added a runner-up finish in the long jump, and the girls 4x100 relay captured fourth place. In the throwing events, Evelyn Schini won the discus title, while Hadley Hill added a fourth-place finish in shot put and third in discus. Greenfield-Central also earned fourth in the girls 4x800 relay to add more team points. --- Girls 200 Meters: Zoey Bauer placed 5th in 30.03 Girls 1 Mile Run: Ashlyn Devlin placed 3rd in 6:00.73; Addison Gordon placed 6th in 6:12.24 Girls 100m Hurdles: Brooklyn Emmerling placed 5th in 17.43 Girls 4x100 Relay: Greenfield-Central placed 4th in 53.31 Mixed 4x400 Relay: Greenfield-Central placed 1st in 3:53.55 Girls 4x800 Relay: Greenfield-Central placed 4th in 11:38.02 Girls High Jump: Jaidynn Vermilyer placed 8th at 4'4" Girls Pole Vault: Zoey Bauer placed 2nd at 8'0"; Gwenyth Mies placed 4th at 7'0" Girls Long Jump: Juliann Jones placed 2nd at 15'7.75"; Laila Avery placed 7th at 13'2.25" Girls Shot Put: Hadley Hill placed 4th at 31'6.5"; Evelyn Schini placed 8th at 28'3" Girls Discus: Evelyn Schini placed 1st at 103'11"; Hadley Hill placed 3rd at 95'9"
