Tennis (Girls) Scores

Greenfield-Central Tennis placed 7th at the Delta Invitational on Saturday. The girls team competed in three rounds throughout the day in a strong field that included four state-ranked teams. In Round 1, the Cougars faced Delta for the second time this season. Delta entered the tournament ranked 14th in the state. Greenfield-Central showed improvement from their previous meeting three weeks ago but ultimately fell 0–5. In Round 2, the Cougars matched up against Bishop Chatard, ranked 28th in the state. Greenfield-Central came close to an upset but lost 1–4. At No. 1 singles, Kate Gilkison dominated with a 6–0, 6–0 victory. Audrey Marcum battled at No. 3 singles but came up short, 5–7, 4–6. At No. 2 doubles, Anna McQueeney and Chloe Kiser pushed their match to a third-set super tiebreak before falling 7–6, 4–6, 11–13. In the final round, the Cougars finished strong with a 5–0 win over Kokomo. Kate Gilkison won 6–1, 6–1 at No. 1 singles. Chaille Frye earned a 6–1, 6–0 victory at No. 2 singles, while Audrey Marcum won 6–0, 6–3 at No. 3 singles. In doubles play, Lucy Stewart and Lauren Page won 6–3, 6–2 at No. 1 doubles, and Anna McQueeney and Chloe Kiser secured a 6–1, 6–2 win at No. 2 doubles.
