The varsity volleyball team played a competitive match against conference opponent Yorktown. The Cougars and the Tigers were point-for-point early in the first set with the score tied 9-9. Then Yorktown went on a scoring run that put them up 16-9. The Cougars chipped away at their lead but came up short with Yorktown taking set one 25-19. GC came out strong in the second set and got up to a 4-0 lead. Yorktown answered with an 8-point scoring run that put GC behind. The Cougars battled it out the rest of the set, but ultimately fell to the Tigers 25-17. Once again, the Cougars put up a lead early in the third set, with a score of 5-0. Then Yorktown climbed back and tied the game 5-5. GC took a small lead in the middle of the third set 12-10 and maintained the 2-point lead until through 15-13. Then Yorktown stormed back and pushed for a win with a score of 25-18 in set three. Varsity volleyball is now 12-9 this season and 0-4 in conference games.
