The Cougars pulled off an incredible rally Tuesday night, scoring five runs in the bottom of the 7th to earn a 6-5 walk-off win over HHC rival Pendleton Heights. Trailing 5-1 heading into their final at-bat, Greenfield-Central chipped away with key hits from Hayden Kidd (RBI double), Gavin Markus (RBI single), and a clutch sacrifice fly by Maddux Lugar. With two outs and the game tied, Dylan Luther reached on a dropped third strike, and an error allowed Nick Flench to score the game-winning run. Gavin Markus was outstanding on the mound, striking out 10 over 6 innings while allowing just 2 earned runs. Brady Martin picked up the win in relief. Offensively, Markus also led the way, going 3-for-4 with an RBI. Cooper Safford added two hits, while Jacob Welch, Zander Cobb, Lugar, and Kidd each drove in a run. The Cougars move to 9-7 on the season and 6-3 in HHC play. Greenfield-Central travels to Pendleton Heights tomorrow to close out the conference series.
