The Greenfield JV girls’ soccer team earned a 5–0 win, highlighted by strong finishing and their first shutout of the season Wednesday night. In the opening minute, Romie Bennett fired a shot inside the box that missed just wide. Only a minute later, she set up Libby Williams, who finished from close range for the early lead. Ten minutes in, Addie Jackson tested the keeper with a shot, and when the rebound spilled loose, Williams buried her second goal of the match. Bennett nearly added to the tally five minutes later with a cross into the box, but the keeper was quick to collect. With seven minutes left in the half, Delaney Beaver’s shot from inside the 18 was saved, and Natalia Ferral preserved the 2–0 advantage with a stop of her own just before the break. Greenfield continued to press in the second half. Thirteen minutes in, Williams was fouled inside the box, setting up a penalty. Bennett converted from the spot to make it 3–0, and less than a minute later Williams struck again inside the box for her hat trick. At the 20-minute mark, Mia Brinkuff added a goal of her own, stretching the lead to 5–0. Jackson nearly made it six with a late attempt, but her shot was turned away. The defense held firm the rest of the way, giving Ferral and the back line their first clean sheet of the season. The team was back in action this evening at Westfield.
