Greenfield-Central vs. East Central The match started with early pressure from East Central, who earned a free kick just outside the 18 and converted it into the back of the net in the 2nd minute. The rest of the first half saw both teams trading possession and building attacks, but the score remained 0–1 going into halftime. Coming out strong in the second half with some player rotations, the Cougars began moving the ball more effectively. Goalkeeper Carol Felver came up big with two impressive back-to-back saves about 15 minutes in. Lucy Blanton got a solid shot off in the 19th minute, but the East Central goalkeeper was able to make the stop. At the 25-minute mark, East Central added a second goal, followed shortly by a third. Greenfield-Central adjusted formations to create more attacking opportunities, which did lead to more chances in the final third, but also opened space for East Central to capitalize with two more goals. Despite the scoreline, the Cougars never stopped fighting—continuing to show the effort, teamwork, and resilience they’ve built throughout the season. Facing the No. 18th-ranked team in the state, the players showed confidence and determination, creating opportunities and demonstrating growth in their play.
